On December 27, Mr. FUKAZAWA Yoichi, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Mukhsinkhuja ABDURAKHMONOV, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. Parliamentary Vice Minister Fukazawa pointed out that Central Asia is an important region for Japan, and that he attaches great importance to relationship with Uzbekistan as a friendly country.
  2. Ambassador Abdurakhmonov congratulated Parliamentary Vice Minister Fukazawa on his appointment, and referred to various future initiatives to strengthen bilateral relations, including the visit of dignitaries.
  3. Both sides confirmed that they will work together toward the Summit of the “Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue next year, taking into account the importance of the Dialogue in the current international and regional context.
  4. Both sides also concurred to work toward expanding bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas, including cooperation in the international arena.
