Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ONISHI’s attendance at the “Reception Commemorating 35th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan”

On September 8, Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended “The Reception Commemorating 35th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan” held in Tokyo on behalf of the Government of Japan. The details are as follows:
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister Onishi expressed congratulations on the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence and stated that Japan and Tajikistan, as partners in maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law, have developed cooperative relations in fields such as politics, economic cooperation, and human resource development over the course of more than 30 years of diplomatic relations.
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister Onishi also referred to President Rahmon’s visit to Japan last December on the occasion of the Summit of the“Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue (CA+JAD), as well as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Eri’s visit to Tajikistan this August. He expressed his hope that cooperation between the two countries would be further promoted through support for Tajikistan in areas such as human resource development, including the Japan Development Scholarship (JDS) program, agriculture, and infrastructure, as well as through the entry into force of the Japan-Tajikistan Investment Agreement this August. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Japan, H.E. Mr. Farhod Salim expressed his gratitude for Japan’s contributions to key sectors through ODA and expressed his desire to further strengthen the bonds between the two countries, building on the foundation of their cooperative relationship over 30 years.
