On May 23, Mr. FUKAZAWA Yoichi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Alexander KHVTISIASHVILI, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister FUKAZAWA stated that he was pleased to see Georgia's growing visibility and popularity in Japan in recent years, and expressed his desire to cooperate with Georgia in areas such as strengthening connectivity in the Central Asia and Caucasus region in logistics, and decarbonization.
- Regarding the passage of the Law On Transparency of Foreign Influence by the Parliament of Georgia, he stated that Japan has supported Georgia's policy to join the EU and is closely monitoring the situation, including the impact of the law's passage on the Georgia's path to EU membership.
- Mr. KHVTISIASHVILI expressed his hope for even closer cooperation in the future, including utilizing the potential in bilateral relations, especially in the economic sphere. He also explained Georgia's efforts for the path to EU membership.
- Mr. FUKAZAWA also conveyed his congratulations on the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Kagoshima, and both sides expressed their expectations for the expansion of exchanges between Japan and Georgia in the region.
