Meeting between Prime Minister SUGA Yoshihide and Prime Minister Krivokapic of Montenegro

On July 24, commencing at 9:10 a.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. SUGA Yoshihide, Prime Minister of Japan, held a Meeting with H.E. Dr. Zdravko Krivokapic, Prime Minister of Montenegro, who is visiting Japan to attend the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic Games. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Prime Minister Suga welcomed Prime Minister krivokapic's first visit to Japan and stated his determination to realize a safe and secure Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games by taking thorough infection prevention measures. Prime Minister Krivokapic appreciated warm welcome and expressed his gratitude and respect for Japan's wonderful organization of the Games under COVID-19.
- Prime Minister Suga stated that Japan supports unified Europe that shares fundamental values and assists Montenegro's economic and social reforms under the West Balkans Cooperation Initiative, and continued that Japan hopes to strengthen the relationship with Montenegro, which is advancing toward EU accession. In response, Prime Minister Krivokapic welcomed and thanked Japan's support, including the provision of medical equipment, and stated that Montenegro would like to deepen cooperation with Japan in various fields such as education, science and technology, and infrastructure.
- In addition, Prime Minister Suga stated the importance of addressing issues related to North Korea, including the abductions issue, and also expressed his expectations for Montenegro's participation in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
