On June 30, Mrs. Akie Abe, wife of the Prime Minister of Japan, held talks with Mrs. Borkica Gruevska, spouse of Prime Minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Two ladies talked in friendly atmosphere. Mrs. Abe welcomed H.E. Mr.Gruevski, Prime Minister of Macedonia and Mrs. Gruevska's visit in Japan after an interval of three years, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Macedonia. In addition, Mrs. Abe thanked Macedonia for the support provided at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Mrs. Gruevska expressed her thanks to accomplishments of Japanese architect, Mr. Kenzo Tange, who made a master plan for Skopje after the 1963 earthquake.

Mrs. Abe talked on women's empowerment with Mrs. Gruevska, who continues her own career besides the official tasks as the first lady. Mrs. Abe told the Japan's efforts toward a society in which all women shine. Mrs. Gruevska said that many women manage both work and family in Macedonia and the whole society understands the men's cooperation is necessary when women continue their career.

During her visit to Japan, Mrs. Gruevska visited TOKYO SKYTREE and had a chance to experience Japanese culture and technology. Her visit to Japan was a great opportunity to further deepening the friendship between Japan and Macedonia.
