Japan-Germany Relations
Meeting between Mrs. Akie Abe, spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, and Ms. Schadt, partner of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany

On November 14, Mrs. Akie Abe, spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, held a meeting with Ms. Daniela Schadt, partner of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, who was paying an official working visit to Japan.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere. Mrs. Abe welcomed the first visit of Ms. Schadt to Japan and Ms. Schadt conveyed her gratitude for the heartfelt hospitality by the Japanese side.
Ms. Schadt extended her admiration toward Japan’s contribution to addressing the refugee crisis, noting that Mrs. Abe had visited a cafe run by refugees living together in a shared house during her stay in Berlin in May this year. In response, Mrs. Abe expressed her hope that the international community will work together and overcome the underlying causes of the refugee crisis.
The two ladies exchanged their views on matters of mutual interest, such as aging society, vitalization of local communities, education, agricultural issues including food education and harmony between modernization and tradition.
