Japan-Bulgaria Relations

 On Sunday, January 14, commencing at 5:30 p.m. (12:30 a.m. on Monday, January 15, Japan time) for approximately 35 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, held an expanded summit meeting with H.E. Mr. Boyko Borissov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, attended by Japanese business representatives, during his visit to Bulgaria. Following this, commencing at 7:05 p.m. for approximately 95 minutes, Prime Minister and Mrs. Abe attended a dinner meeting hosted by Prime Minister Borissov. The overview of the meetings is as follows.

1. At the expanded summit meeting, Prime Minister Abe expressed his hopes for the further development of economic relations between Japan and Bulgaria, through the establishment of the Japan Business Forum as a platform for cooperation between the Bulgarian Government and Japanese companies. In response, Prime Minister Borissov stated his desire to further enhance economic relations between Bulgaria and Japan. Additionally, the business representatives from Japan and Bulgaria made presentations about their projects and intiatives.

2. Following this, at the dinner meeting, Prime Minister Abe offered remarks in which he mentioned the shared mindset and values of Japan and Bulgaria. He also expressed his hope to promote further exchange with Bulgaria, including the expansion of people-to-people exchanges.
