G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting Visit the Port of Gioia Tauro

On July 16, commencing at around 12:47pm for approximately 13 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting Italy, to attend the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting, visited the Port of Gioia Tauro in Reggio Calabria with other participants to the Meeting.
- First, H.E. Mr. Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic) lectured the role of the Port of Gioia Tauro for the Gaza support initiative “Food for Gaza”, spearheaded by H.E. Mr. Tajani. The group then actually observed such equipment as container scanners, which facilitate the expeditious shipping administration and ensure the security of the shipping, that will be granted to Cyprus as a part of the Food for Gaza initiative.
- Minister Kamikawa pointed out the importance of the Port of Gioia Tauro in establishing resilient global supply chain, and explained that the Port of Gioia Tauro, which is geographically located en route connecting the European region and the IndoPacific region, is also significant for Japan, heavily relying on maritime transportation. Minister Kamikawa actively exchanged views with other participants.
