Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)

  1. On November 16, a Cabinet decision was made to launch the Meeting amongst Main Ministers on the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) to consider comprehensive policies toward early conclusion of the negotiation.
  2. The First Meeting amongst Main Ministers was held on that date to make a decision to set up the Task-force on the Japan-EU EPA, which was chaired by Mr. Koichi Hagiuda, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary. The first meeting of the Task-force was held on 17 November.
  3. Japan will facilitate close coordination among the relevant ministries and working in a united manner as a government toward the realization of agreement in principle in 2016.
