Meeting between Senior Deputy Minister AKAHORI and Ms. Grynspan, Secretary-General of the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD)

On March 17 (March 18, JST), Mr. AKAHORI Takeshi, Senior Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with Ms. Grynspan, Secretary-General of the UN Trade and Development. The outline of the meeting is as follows.
- Senior Deputy Minister AKAHORI mentioned Japan’s contribution to UNCTAD’s activities in the past year and this year with Japan’s appreciation for its activities on development cooperation in the developing countries including its response to the food, energy and financial crises related to the situation in Ukraine and its support for energy transition in Africa. In response, UN Trade and Development Secretary-General Grynspan expressed her gratitude for Japan’s understanding and support for UNCTAD’s activities.
- The two sides exchanged their views on the current international situation and issues related to trade and development, as well as on strengthening cooperation between Japan and UNCTAD.
