Prime Minister SUGA Yoshihide attended the Special Dialogue with the World Economic Forum

On October 14, commencing at around 6 p.m. for approximately 40 minutes, Prime Minister SUGA Yoshihide, attended the Special Dialogue organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The overview of the conference is as follows.
- At the outset, Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum (WEF), extended his congratulations to Mr. Suga on his assuming the post of Prime Minister of Japan. Professor Schwab explained the long-lasting partnerships between Japan and the WEF and expressed his expectation for Japan’s proactive role in the international community to promote a recovery of global economy and global collaboration against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- In response, Prime Minister Suga provided an overview of the policy priority of the Government of Japan such as regulatory reform and promotion of digitalization. Prime Minister Suga stated how Japan is contributing to the international community in such areas as cooperation in the field of global health, rule-making for free and fair global-economy, advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs) and other global issues.
- Representatives of participating members of the WEF expressed strong interest in Japan’s economic and diplomatic policy and took part in active exchange of views with the Prime Minister.
