On March 12, commencing at 6:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, received a courtesy call from Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi. The Summary of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Mr. HAYASHI explained DG Grossi, who is scheduled to visit Fukushima on the 13th, that the involvement of the IAEA, as the international authority in the field of nuclear energy, in the discharge of ALPS treated water into the sea remains important, and that Japan continues to explain the safety of ALPS treated water both domestically and internationally with a high level of transparency based on scientific evidence.
  2. In response, DG Grossi stated that it is a pleasure to have continuous opportunity to meet Mr. Hayashi since he was in the position of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and that he will visit TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and the IAEA continues to be involved in until the last drop of water is discharged.
