Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation

On 30 October 1 to 3 November 2023, the 36th Plenary Meeting of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In its opening statement, Japan raised regional concerns such as North Korea's intensified nuclear and missile activities including its ballistic missile launches, Russia's aggression of Ukraine, and the missile proliferation in Iran. Japan also emphasized the importance on outreaching efforts to enhance the export control capabilities of Asian countries and others to strengthen their missile non-proliferation.
