On September 26 (local time, 25 on JST), Mr. AKAHORI Takeshi, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivered a speech at the High-level Multi-stakeholder Informal Meeting to Launch of the Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence, held during the 80th United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week.

1. Participants exchanged views on the latest developments and the future directions of AI, and expressed their expectations for activities of the Global Dialogue and the International Scientific Panel.
2. From Japan, Senior Deputy Minister AKAHORI delivered a speech and emphasized the importance of mitigating the risks of AI and building a governance framework that ensures safe, secure, and trustworthy AI. He highlighted that Japan launched the Hiroshima AI Process in 2023, and has led international efforts. He also expressed Japan’s intention to actively participate in the Global Dialogue and contribute to international cooperation by working closely with a wide range of stakeholders and countries.
