The overview is as follows:

  1. Vice-Minister Eri welcomed Ms. Régimbal’s visit to Japan and expressed her intention to further promote cooperation with the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs in the field of disarmament, including through the UN Disarmament Fellowship Programme currently taking place in Japan. In response, Ms. Régimbal conveyed her appreciation for the invitation as well as for the Government of Japan’s support to date, and expressed her desire to continue and strengthen cooperation across a wide range of areas.
  2. In addition, the two sides exchanged views on visits to Hiroshima and Nagasaki and on understanding the reality of the atomic bombings, and affirmed that this is an important contribution by Japan toward advancing nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
