On January 23rd, commencing at 5 p.m. for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. ISHIHARA Hirotaka, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, received a courtesy call from Ms. Melissa Parke, Executive Director of International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons(ICAN)and exchanged views.
On January 23rd, commencing at 5 p.m. for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. ISHIHARA Hirotaka, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, received a courtesy call from Ms. Melissa Parke, Executive Director of International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons(ICAN)and exchanged views.
Special Advisor Ishihara stated that Japan leads international efforts to realize a world without nuclear weapons and in this context, dialogues with the civil society are essential. In response, Executive Director Parke stated that it’s important for Japan to play a further role in achieving a world without nuclear weapons.
Both sides exchanged views on efforts towards a world without nuclear weapons and reaffirm the importance of deepening the understanding of the realities of nuclear weapons use, based on her visit to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
