The Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited 30 overseas local staff members to Japan from its embassies and consulates. Based on their long experience in public relations and consular affairs, they participated in an advanced training program from 16 to 19 November.

In the final session of the program, Mr. Koichi Takemasa, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from the participants. The Secretary thanked their long service on the frontline of the Japanese diplomatic services, with a certificate in finishing the program. Mr. Kazuhiro Suzuki, Director at the Overseas Establishments Division, accompanied the Secretary on the call.

The overseas local staff members participated in the program from the following embassies and consulates.

  1. Senior group: Sri Lanka, Chiang Mai, Nashville, Los Angeles, Chile, Peru, Hungary, Italy, Kuwait, Cameroun
  2. Cultural and public relations group: China, Indonesia, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Portugal, Uzbekistan, Iran, Egypt, Morocco, Latvia
  3. Consular group: Vietnam, Malaysia, Spain, Seattle, Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, Toronto, Thailand, Portland
