  1. Appointment of Mr. Yoshihisa Endo as Executive Director of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) Information Sharing Centre (ISC)
  2. Deputy Press Secretary Hidenobu Sobashima: Good afternoon. Today I have several topics to present to you.

    The first is the appointment of Mr. Yoshihisa Endo as the new Executive Director of the Information Sharing Centre (ISC) of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP). The unanimous nomination was made yesterday, 10 March, at the 4th Annual Meeting of the ReCAAP ISC Governing Council in Singapore.

  3. Japan-Romania summit meeting
  4. Mr. Sobashima: The Second is the Japan-Romania summit meeting. Yesterday Prime Minister Hatoyama received the visiting Romanian President Traian Basescu for a meeting as well as a banquet. On that occasion the Notes were signed and exchanged for Japan’s ODA Loan to Romania on the project to construct access railways to the Bucharest International Airport.

  6. Mr. Sobashima: As for the reports of the so-called "secret agreements" made public last Tuesday, 9 March, the reports themselves and relevant documents in Japanese are uploaded on the Foreign Ministry’s website.

  8. Mr. Sobashima: With respect to the annual ODA report also made public last Tuesday, we expect the English translation will be ready and available on our website in about a month.

  10. Mr. Sobashima: As for visits, the news is that East Timor President Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta will be coming to Japan from 14 to 20 March.
