1. Opening Remarks
(1) Signing of the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Peru for an Economic Partnership
Minister Matsumoto: The Government of Japan decided at its cabinet meeting today to sign the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Peru for an Economic Partnership. Based on this decision, Mr. Eduardo Ferreyros Kuppers, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Peru and I will sign the Agreement today. We have worked on this Agreement as a part of our promotion of bilateral Economic Partnership Agreements (EPA) in the Asia-Pacific region, based on the Guideline on Comprehensive Economic Partnerships decided in November last year. We hope that the Agreement will promote the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment between the two countries and will further vitalize both economies by strengthening reciprocal economic ties in wide-ranging fields.
(2) Opening of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Official Face Book and Twitter Accounts
Minister: MOFA will open its own comprehensive official accounts on Face Book and Twitter tomorrow. We would like to more effectively transmit information on Japan's diplomacy in general through these accounts.
