- Ms. Fatou Bensouda, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), and Ms. Olivia Swaak-Goldman, International Cooperation Advisor of the ICC, will be invited to Japan from Monday 15 to Friday 19 October by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan.
- During their stay in Japan, they will pay a courtesy call on Mr. Shuji Kira, Senior Vice-Minister of the MOFA on Tuesday 16. Prosecutor Bensouda will deliver a lecture in the Public Symposium to be held in MOFA on Wednesday 17.
- Japan welcomes the first visit of the Prosecutor of the ICC on the 10th anniversary of the enactment of the Rome Statute in 2002.
- Japan has consistently supported the activities of the ICC, which is the first-ever permanent international criminal court. This visit by the Prosecutor to Japan is expected to further reinforce the relationship between Japan and the ICC.
