- The 14th Meeting of the Japanese-Austrian Committee for the 21st Century and Public Symposium will be held for two days from September 20 (Mon) to 21 (Tue) in Austria.
- Japanese Committee members include Mr. Hidenori Tsutsui, Advisor for Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Japanese chair); Mr. Daisuke Hiratsuka, Director-General of the Research Planning Department, Institute of Developing Economies, JETRO; Dr. Yorizumi Watanabe, Professor of Keio University; Dr. Hiroyuki Minagawa, Associate Professor of Chiba University; and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Austrian Committee members include Mr. Max Kothbauer, Vice President of the Austrian National Bank (Austrian chair); Dr. Wolfgang Mazal, Professor of the University of Vienna; Dr. Hanspeter Neuhold, Professor of the University of Vienna; Dr. Manfred Prisching, Professor of the University of Graz; Dr. Gudrun Biffl, Professor of Danube University; and officials of the Austrian Foreign Ministry (BMeiA) and the Federal Economic Chamber (WKO).
- At the Committee Meeting on September 20 (Mon) entitled, “Future EU-Japan Cooperation in the Light of recent Developments” the members are expected to exchange opinions on the current state of regional cooperation concerning Japan and Europe and the prospect of a Japan-EU economic partnship agreement.
At the Public Symposium on September 21 (Tue) entitled, “The Role of Labour in a Society in Transition ,” members will exchange opinions on sociological change in the labor market, including female participation in the workforce, while receiving questions and comments from the floor.
