Mr. Tetsuro Fukuyama, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to Attend Expo 2010 Shanghai and the 2010 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)

 From April 30 (Fri) to May 7 (Fri), Mr. Tetsuro Fukuyama, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, will attend Expo 2010 Shanghai, the 2010 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in New York, and visit Washington, D.C.

  1. Expo 2010 Shanghai
    Mr. Fukuyama will attend a series of events related to Expo 2010 Shanghai as deputy head of the Japanese delegation (Head: Mr. Yoshito Sengoku, Minister of State in Charge of National Strategy [Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Japan]), including the Opening Ceremony of Expo 2010 Shanghai on April 30 (Fri), and the Opening Ceremony for the Japan Pavilion on May 1 (Sat).

  2. The 2010 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)
    The 2010 Review Conference of the Parties to the NPT will be held from May 3 to 28 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Mr. Fukuyama will attend as the head of the delegation of Japan, and will make a general statement. In light of the opportunity provided by this Conference which is attended by high level representatives from States Parties to the NPT, he will also have talks with them aiming at the success of the Conference.

  3. Visit to Washington, D.C.
    In Washington, D.C., Mr. Fukuyama will exchange opinions regarding issues such as climate change.
