Japan-OSCE Conference

  1. On June 10 (Weds) and 11 (Thurs), a conference will be held in Tokyo at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the theme of “Sharing knowledge and experiences between the OSCE participating States and Asian Partners for Co-operation to address common challenges”, co-hosted by Japan and OSCE (the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe).
     
  2. Mr. Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, Secretary General of the OSCE, will visit Japan to attend this conference. Attendees will also include representatives of the fifty-six OSCE participating States, of OSCE’s Asian Partners for Co-operation (namely, Afghanistan, Japan, Mongolia, Republic of Korea and Thailand), and of international organizations concerned, and experts from both Asia and Europe.
     
  3. The conference aims to discuss how best to address international confidence building through military transparency which is a basis for conflict prevention, energy security and civil society development with a particular focus on the role of media. Participants will share views and experiences of Asia and Europe in these fields and discuss future cooperation between the two regions.
