Japan-OSCE Conference

- On June 10 (Weds) and 11 (Thurs), a conference will be held in Tokyo
at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the theme of “Sharing knowledge
and experiences between the OSCE participating States and Asian Partners
for Co-operation to address common challenges”, co-hosted by Japan and
OSCE (the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe).
- Mr. Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, Secretary General of the OSCE, will
visit Japan to attend this conference. Attendees will also include representatives
of the fifty-six OSCE participating States, of OSCE’s Asian Partners for
Co-operation (namely, Afghanistan, Japan, Mongolia, Republic of Korea and
Thailand), and of international organizations concerned, and experts from
both Asia and Europe.
- The conference aims to discuss how best to address international confidence building through military transparency which is a basis for conflict prevention, energy security and civil society development with a particular focus on the role of media. Participants will share views and experiences of Asia and Europe in these fields and discuss future cooperation between the two regions.
