The 5th World Water Forum

- The 5th World Water Forum will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, for seven
days from March 16 (Mon) to 22 (Sun),2009.
- H.I.H. the Crown Prince will attend the Forum and deliver a keynote
speech. Mr. Yoshiro Mori, former Prime Minister, will participate
in as Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Japan. Representative
of the related ministries and agencies will also attend the Forum.
- Mr. Mori will attend the summit meeting slated for the afternoon of
March 16 (Mon) and will urge the further need for an international efforts
to address the water problem, while introducing Japan’s efforts in tackling
water and sanitation issues including the outcomes of TICAD IV in May and
those of the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit in August last year. He will
also attend other various meetings as President of the Japan Water Forum
and the Asia Pacific Water Forum.
- Under the over-arching theme of “Bridging Divides for Water,” discussions will be held on various themes on water and sanitation at different levels: the political process, thematic process, regional process, high panel, etc., and a ministerial statement for solving global water-related issues will be adopted at the end.
