Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan to Attend the 63rd Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations

- Mr. Taro Aso, Prime Minister of Japan, will visit New York from the
afternoon of September 25 (Thursday) to the morning of September 27 (Saturday)
and Mr. Hirofumi Nakasone, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, from the
afternoon of September 25 (Thursday) to the afternoon of September 28 (Sunday),
respectively, to attend the 63rd Session of the General Assembly of the
United Nations.
- Prime Minister Aso will deliver a statement at the General Assembly
on the afternoon of September 25 (New York time). Mr. Aso will also
attend the High-level Evening Event on the Food and Climate Change crisis,
and have meetings with Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United
Nations, H.E. Mr. Jalal Talabani, President of Iraq, and the Hon. Mr. Kevin
Rudd, Prime Minister of Australia.
- Foreign Minister Nakasone will attend international conferences which will be held on the occasion of the 63rd Session of the General Assembly, including a roundtable meeting of the High-Level Event on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a Friends of Pakistan Group meeting, and a meeting of the Group of Friends of the Secretary-General on Myanmar, and hold talks with the Hon. Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of State of the United States, H.E. Mr. Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Makudoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, and H.E. Father Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann, President of the U.N. General Assembly.
