ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Seminar on Adaptation to Climate Change

  1. The ASEM Seminar on Adaptation to Climate Change will be held on October 2 (Thursday) and 3 (Friday) in Tokyo.  The Seminar will be co-hosted by Japan, the European Commission, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Viet Nam.
     
  2. This Seminar will be attended by officials, experts, and others concerned from the ASEM member countries and organizations to discuss "adaptation" to negative effects caused by climate change, by focusing on five fields: water resources, health, agriculture, disaster prevention and biodiversity.
     
  3. The Seminar aims at sharing of scientific knowledge and experience among the ASEM members and improving the capacity of each country to cope with the issue of adaptation to the negative effects of climate change, which is an urgent task that the international community must deal with in concert.  The results of the Seminar will be reported to the Seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 7) at the end of October.
