Fifth ASEM Conference on Counter-Terrorism

- The Fifth ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Conference on Counter-Terrorism will be held in Tokyo on May 15 (Tue) and 16 (Wed).
- This conference will be chaired by Mr. Akio Suda, Ambassador in Charge of International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conference will be attended by representatives of the governments of ASEM partners, and representatives of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (UNCTED), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC), and the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT).
- The purpose of this conference is to exchange information on
the current situation of terrorism and to exchange views on counter-terrorism
measures to strengthen cross-regional cooperation for countering terrorism among
states and relevant agencies in Asia and Europe.
