Third Meeting of the Joint Committee of the Japan-Mexico Economic Partnership Agreement

  1. The Third Meeting of the Joint Committee established pursuant to the Japan-Mexico Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) will be held in Tokyo on April 11 (Wed).
  2. The Meeting will be co-chaired by Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, from the Japanese side, and Mr. Eduardo Sojo, Secretary for Economy, from the Mexican side.  Officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will also participate.
  3. The chairmen will exchange messages for the second year anniversary of the entry into force of the Agreement, addressing concrete results, which has been achieved between both through the agreement, and also exchange views on the implementation and more effective measures to be implemented in the future.
  4. Japan-Mexico relations have a history of exchange and friendship for more than 400 years, and nowadays Mexico is the largest trade partner in Latin America for Japan.  After the entry into force of the Japan-Mexico EPA, the bilateral trade relationship has greatly increased, and both sides will aim to deepen their economic relationship further more through the celebration of this meeting.
