The First Round of Negotiations for Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)

1. The first round of negotiations for the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) will be held in Canberra from April 23 (Mon) to 24 (Tue).
2. The participants in the meeting will be: on the Japanese side, Mr. Masaharu Kohno, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, and officials from other relevant ministries of Japan; and on the Australian side, Mr. Peter Gray, Deputy Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and officials from other relevant departments of Australia.
3. The participants will discuss the framework of negotiations and the method of proceeding.
