Japanese
- On March 14, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) rendered its judgment on the dispute concerning delimitation of the maritime boundary between Bangladesh and Myanmar in the Bay of Bengal.
- The Government of Japan highly appreciates the important role played by the Tribunal in terms of the peaceful settlement of disputes as well as the maintenance and development of the rule of the law at sea. Japan thus welcomes that proceedings have been continually instituted before the Tribunal and it has been steadily producing results including this judgment, which is the first ruling it has issued in a maritime delimitation case, as well as the first advisory opinion issued by its Seabed Disputes Chamber in February 2011.
- The Government of Japan is determined to further support the activities of ITLOS.
