Japanese

  1.  On December 10 (local time), the Council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) appointed H.E. Motohide Yoshikawa, Ambassador, Permanent Delegation of Japan to the OECD, as Chair of the OECD Executive Committee for 2013, following upon his appointment 2011 and 2012
  2.  The OECD Executive Committee is the next highest decision-making body in the Organization after the OECD Council. In addition to making decisions and recommendations related to the proposals of the OECD committees in each field, it deliberates on the strategic issues and priority agenda that should be taken up by the OECD from an overall perspective, and supports the work of the OECD Council. The Council is chaired by the OECD Secretary-General, while the Chair of the Executive Committee is selected from among member countries.
  3.  The reappointment of H.E. Ambassador Yoshikawa as Chair of the Executive Committee following upon his appointment last year and this year shows the trust of member countries in his management of deliberations thus far. Japan as well hopes that OECD will positively contribute to a variety of issues of global economy, through H.E. Ambassador Yoshikawa’s playing a leading role in the Executive Committee.

[Article 9, Convention on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development]
