Dr. Ir. Ginandjar Kartasasmita, Member of Presidential Advisory Board of Indonesia Pays a Courtesy Call on Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

  1. On Monday, February 14, from 16:25 for about 45 minutes, Mr. Seiji Maehara, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call at the MOFA building from H.E. Dr. Ir. Ginandjar Kartasasmita, member of the Presidential Advisory Board of the Republic of Indonesia.

  2. Minister Maehara requested Dr. Ir. Ginandjar’s continued contribution to bilateral relations, referring to his accomplishment in creating the foundation of Japan-Indonesia relations of today as the most distinguished Japan expert in Indonesia. Additionally, Minister Maehara appreciated the significance of the Bali Democracy Forum held in December 2010, which he had attended himself, and expressed his intention to strengthen the strategic relationship with Indonesia, which is a key member country of ASEAN. Furthermore, referring to the Japan-Indonesia Ministerial Economic Meeting held in October 2010, Minister Maehara expressed his hope that Japan’s outstanding technology should certainly be utilized for economic development of Indonesia.

  3. Dr. Ir. Ginandjar appreciated Minister Maehara’s visit to Indonesia in December 2010 and his signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation on the Metropolitan Priority Area (MPA) during the visit. Dr. Ir. Ginandjar explained that infrastructure development is essential for economic development of Indonesia, and referring to various efforts  taken by Indonesia on environmental issues, pointed out the possibility of strengthening cooperation with Japan in the area of geothermal development where much potential exists in Indonesia, given its technological advantage in this area.

  4. Additionally, Dr. Ir. Ginandjar requested to improve the conditions in accepting Indonesian nurses and care workers to Japan, among other topics.
