Exchange of Diplomatic Notes concerning the Entry into Force of the Economic Partnership Agreement between Japan and Indonesia

  1. Following the cabinet decision of May 27 (Tue), the Exchange of Notes concerning the Entry into Force of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between Japan and the Republic of Indonesia will take place on June 1 (Sun) in Tokyo between Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Dr. H. Jusuf Anwar, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan.  With this Exchange of Diplomatic Notes, the EPA will enter into force on July 1 (Tue).

This EPA is aimed at enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries in wide-ranging areas by promoting liberalization and smooth facilitation of trade and investment and advancing cooperation in such matters as movement of persons, energy and mineral resources, intellectual property and improvement of business environment.  It is expected that the entry into force of this EPA will further vitalize the economies of Japan and Indonesia and tighten bilateral relations through strengthened economic partnership.
