Foreign Minister Kamikawa’s visit to mobile clinics (UNFPA-supported project)



On April 28, commencing at 10:20 a.m. local time (April 28, 4:20 p.m. JST) for approximately 35 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting the Republic of Madagascar, visited mobile clinics, which has been provided by Japan as part of its continued assistance through United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) since 2019 and others in the capital Antananarivo.
Minister Kamikawa, while receiving briefings from UNFPA staff, monitored such activities as the provision of medical services including antenatal check-ups at mobile clinics, maternal and child health support, awareness-raising activities by female police officers to prevent domestic violence and others forms of victimization, and victim counselling.
Minister Kamikawa also interacted with local women's support groups who are engaged in activities to raise awareness of gender issues among young people and with children on the site, and expressed her expectations that activities from the WPS perspective will be further developed to realize a safe and secure world where human dignity is protected.
