The Banquet Hosted by the Prime Minister of Japan and his spouse

On August 21, commencing at around 7:30 p.m. for approximately 90 minutes, Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru and his spouse hosted a dinner at the InterContinental Hotel Yokohama Grand for heads of state visiting Japan for TICAD9. Deputy Chair KISHIDA Fumio, Minister for Foreign Affairs IWAYA Takeshi, and others were also in attendance.
- 1 In his opening remarks, Prime Minister ISHIBA welcomed the heads of state and expressed his desire to draw a future where Japan and Africa deepen their partnership, primarily focusing on economic ties, and prosper together.
- Prime Minister ISHIBA explained that the dinner featured a modern Japanese-style menu utilizing abundant seasonal domestic ingredients to showcase Japanese culinary culture. Each course was paired with Japanese sake and wine from various regions of Japan, including disaster-affected areas.
- The dinner featured dishes created by a menu planning committee composed of experts. Multiple menus were prepared, including Muslim-friendly and vegetarian options, to accommodate the diverse religious and dietary needs of the attendees.
- The dinner provided a highly meaningful opportunity to showcase the appeal of Japanese culinary culture to Africa through Japanese-style hospitality and concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
