Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Attends a Side Event Hosted by the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA)


1. On Wednesday, August 28th, commencing at 12:20 p.m. for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, attended the side event “Sasakawa in Africa – building on the past, looking to the future, Africa’s youth and entrepreneurship in agriculture,” which was held by the SAA in Yokohama, and delivered an address.
2. In his address, Prime Minister Abe expressed respect for the SAA’s 30-year devoted support for farmers in Africa, while noting the important role that Japanese technology is certain to play in human resource development for African youth and innovation which is essential to transform the agri-environment in Africa.

This side event was held by the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The main attendees were Mr. Yasutoshi Nishimura, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary; Dr. Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group; and Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, Chairman of the Nippon Foundation.
