Joint Monitoring Committee of the TICAD Process

- The Joint Monitoring Committee of the TICAD Process was held online on July 15, 2021. The Committee was chaired by Ambassador YONETANI Koji, Assistant Minister, Director-General of African Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and was attended by the Government and related governmental organizations of Japan, TICAD co-organizers, the Permanent Representatives Committee of the African Union (PRC), the Government of the Republic of Tunisia, African Diplomatic Corps in Tokyo (ADC), the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD), international organizations, partner countries, representatives of the private sector and civil society.
- The Committee discussed the progress in implementing the initiatives launched at TICAD7 (Yokohama, 2019) by the international community including Japan, African countries, partner countries and related organizations. The participants at the Committee also shared the view that they would cooperate closely in the run up to TICAD8, which will be held in Tunisia in 2022.
