Japan-Côte d'Ivoire Summit Meeting

On August 22, commencing at 10:05 a.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit meeting with H. E. Mr. Robert Beugré MAMBE, Prime Minister, Head of Government, Minister of Sports and Living Environment, Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, who is visiting Japan to participate in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9). The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- At the outset, Prime Minister ISHIBA stated his desire to elevate the bilateral relationship to a higher lelve with Côte d'Ivoire, which, being a gateway to the French-speaking West African region, has seen increased interest from Japanese companies following the Japan-Africa Public-Private Economic Forum. In response, Prime Minister Mambe expressed his gratitude for Japan's support and stated his desire to continue close collaboration to further promote investment by Japanese companies.
- Following that, Prime Minister ISHIBA stated his intention to support Côte d'Ivoire's efforts, which are essential for peace and stability in the West African region, and pointed out the expansion of cooperation driven by private sector such as utilization of satelites, agriculture, and Japanese language education. He also welcomed the joint statement aimed at promoting industrial cooperation between the Ministers of Industry. In response, Prime Minister Mambe expressed his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations in various fields. Both leaders concurred in concretely proceeding with the implementation of bilateral policy consultations, recognizing the importance of bilateral relations.
