Foreign Minister HAYASHI Visits the Republic of Palau

On May 8, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited the Republic of Palau. The overview of the local itinerary is as follows.


- Commencing at 9:05 a.m. local time (same time, JST) for approximately 80 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Surangel S. WHIPPS, Jr., President of the Republic of Palau.
- Commencing at 10:30 a.m. local time (same time, JST) for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with Hon. Gustav AITARO, Minister of State of the Republic of Palau.
- Commencing at 11:10 a.m. local time (same time, JST) for approximately 55 minutes, Minister Hayashi attended the completion ceremony of the Palau International Airport. He congratulated that new terminal had been established and the existing building had been renovated including through overseas investments and loans by JICA as the first large-scale public-private partnership infrastructure project in a Pacific Island country and praised the project for its contribution to the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" by promoting economic and social prosperity and connectivity throughout the Pacific region. After that, Minister Hayashi attended a luncheon hosted by the government of the Republic of Palau.


- Commencing at 2:10 p.m. local time (same time, JST), Foreign Minister Hayashi visited the former naval cemetery in Koror City and offered flowers to the cenotaph for the war dead of the Pacific War.
