The Second Japan-PIF Policy Dialogue

- On 14th March, the second Japan-PIF Policy Dialogue was held in MOFA, Tokyo in order to have a wide range of discussions between Japan and PIF Secretariat. In addition to Mr. Yamaguchi, director from Oceania Division and Ms. Pratt, Deputy Secretary of PIF, HE Fritz, Ambassador to Japan, Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia, HE Mataigonga, Ambassador to Japan, Embassy of the Republic of Fiji, HE Lambourne, Ambassador to Taiwan from Kiribati, and some other people from Embassies in Japan including Samoa, Palau, Fiji, NZ, and Australia, attended the meeting for the first time.
- In the beginning, Director Yamaguchi welcomed the 2nd Japan-PIF Policy Dialogue to be held in Japan, and Deputy Director Pratt’s visit to Japan. He also mentioned that he would like to promote the concrete cooperation between Japan and PIF in the Asia Pacific. Deputy Director Pratt mentioned that she would like to promote strengthening relationship between Japan and PIF in various fields.
- In the meeting, participants discussed such as the follow-up of PALM8, cooperation with partner countries, maritime security, climate change and fisheries.
