Japan - the Federated States of Micronesia Summit Meeting

On March 15, commencing at 11:40 a.m. until 11:55 a.m., Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a summit meeting with H.E. Mr. Emanuel Mori, President of the Federated States of Micronesia, who was visiting Sendai to attend the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. Prime Minister Abe expressed his deep respect to President Mori, who will retire from his position in May, for his contribution during his tenure of office, and stated that he hoped President Mori would continue to support the relations between the two countries to prosper even after his retirement. President Mori expressed his appreciation in response, and offered his congratulations on the success of the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.
2. The two leaders shared a view to further strengthening the bilateral cooperation for the success of the 7th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM7) in May this year.
3. Prime Minister Abe also stated his appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of President Mori with regards to the project for the recovery of the remains of the war dead, and confirmed with President Mori their continued cooperation.
