On July 18, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from Senator the Hon Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Australia, who is visiting Japan to participate in the 10th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM10), and they exchanged views for a short time. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida welcomed Foreign Minister Wong's participation in PALM 10. They exchanged the views on regional affairs, including Pacific Island countries, and concurred to strengthen the Special Strategic Partnership between Japan and Australia to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
  2. Foreign Minister Wong congratulated Prime Minister Kishida for successfully hosting PALM 10, and expressed her strong expectation to further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
