The U.S.-Japan Cooperation on NGOs
The Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Network is an organization that aims to facilitate cooperation among CSOs in the U.S. and Japan. Since its establishment in 2000, the Network has increased the capacities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), promoted joint projects and fund-raising between the U.S. and Japanese NGOs, and made policy recommendations for the support of NGOs.
In January 2000, the first US-Japan CSO Forum was held by the U.S.-Japan Public Private Partnership (P3) and CSO Network Japan (CSONJ)
as a part of the US-Japan Common Agenda in Honolulu. The "Statement of the US-Japan Common Agenda CSO Forum" confirmed the many possibilities for P3 and CSONJ to work together to facilitate shared learning and joint project efforts involving organizations in Japan and the U.S. and to promote key aspects of global sustainable development.
