- On Sunday, April 15, the Government of Japan will hold the East Asia Low Carbon Growth Partnership Dialogue at "Hotel Nikko Tokyo" in Tokyo.
- Mr. Koichiro Gemba, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and Mr. Rachmat Witoelar, President's Special Envoy for Climate Change of Indonesia will co-chair the Dialogue. In this Dialogue, participants will discuss regional cooperation toward low carbon growth in the EAS region with the participation of EAS ministerial level officials and high level officials of related international organizations.
- This Dialogue is the materialization of the East Asia Low Carbon Growth Partnership Initiative which was proposed by Japan in the EAS last year as part of Japan's Vision and Actions toward Low-Carbon Growth and a Climate-Resilient World. In order to address climate change effectively, it is important to promote cooperation toward low carbon growth in the EAS region which is the growth center of the world economy and the area with the largest greenhouse gas emissions in the world.
- In this Dialogue, participants will discuss: (1) Actions toward low carbon growth in each of the EAS countries, (2) Establishing a market mechanism to spread low carbon growth technologies, (3) Future cooperation in the EAS region in this field. On the occasion of the dialogue, several side events will be held.
