H.E. Major General Joseph Kabila, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to Visit Japan

  1. H.E. Major General Joseph Kabila, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will visit Japan from March 13 (Sun) to 16 (Wed) at the invitation of the Government of Japan.

  2. During his stay in Japan, President Kabila will be received by His Majesty The Emperor of Japan. He will also have a summit meeting with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and talks with Ms. Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), and will attend the Japan-DRC Business Seminar co-hosted by JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) and the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Japan, and other meetings.

  3. This will be President Kabila's first visit to Japan and will be the first in 16 years by a Congolese president. The visit is expected to further strengthen the relationship between Japan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a broad range of areas.

  4. The President will be accompanied by a total of six ministers including Mr. Ramazani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
