Recent Trends
Grant aid is temporarily suspended except for grass-roots aid because of the conflict in the country. Japan strongly hopes that peace and stability in the country and the Great Lakes region will be restored as early as possible. In this regard, Japan has been taken every opportunity to appeal to the parties concerned for a peaceful resolution to the conflicts, especially through the fulfillment of the obligations under the Global and All-inclusive agreement signed in Pretoria in 2002. Japan decided to extend emergency grant assistance of about 7.57 million US$ to support the elections to be held this year in the DRC.
