Japan-Pakistan Relations

On February 26, the Fourth Japan-Pakistan Counter Terrorism Consultations was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

H.E. Mr. MINAMI Hiroyuki, Representative of the Government of Japan and Ambassador in charge of International Cooperation for Countering Terrorism and International Organized Crime, and Mr. Nabeel Munir, Additional Foreign Secretary for the UN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan represented delegations, respectively. From Japan, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Police Agency, and Public Security and Intelligence Agency joined the Consultations. From Pakistan, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other counter terrorism related ministries and agencies participated.

During the Consultations, both countries exchanged information on counter terrorism measures in their own countries and discussed global threats of international terrorism.

The First Japan-Pakistan Counter Terrorism Consultations was held in April 2007, based on consensus between two countries in 2006.

This meeting was held for the first time in approximately seven years since December 2017, due to the global spread of COVID-19.
