60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Maldives Logo Competition 2027
The year 2027 will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Maldives. Series of events are being planned to commemorate this milestone as well as to deepen the existing positive relationship between the two countries. We are inviting submissions from the public for a design contest, creating a logo to represent the aforementioned events. The details of this contest are as follows:
Overview - Call for designs
- Please submit a logo to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Maldives.
- Either citizens of Maldives or Japan are welcomed to submit regardless of age and place of current residence.
- Submissions must be received by Wednesday, September 30th, 2026.
- Please submit a logo design by email to Southwest Asia Division, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (japanmaldives60@mofa.go.jp).
- The persons concerned will evaluate the designs and identify a winner to be used as the official logo for the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and the Maldives.
- Results will be announced on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs around mid-December (Subject to change).
How to submit your design
Please attach your logo design to an email with a title “Logo Entry” addressed to Southwest Asia Division, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (japanmaldives60@mofa.go.jp). Make sure to include your name and affiliation in the body of the email, and attach a brief explanation of your logo design. Submissions by post will not be accepted.
- Proposals must be submitted in digital format, meeting the following requirements:
- Format: JPEG, PDF, or EPS file
- Size: up to 3 MB
- Resolution: 300 DPI or higher
- Approximate Size: For Vertical layout (Portrait): 160px x 160px
For Horizontal layout (Landscape): 250px x 150 px
(NOTE) Formatting changes may be requested in some cases.
- The explanation of your logo design should be made in approximately 80 words long and attached with the email in a separate file. (Do not include the explanation in the email body.). The explanation will be made public along with the announcement of the selected logo.
- Please submit both color and black-and-white versions of your design (no restrictions on number of colors, gradations, etc.).
- Submitted logo designs or materials will not be returned.
Points to note
- Submitted logo designs must be unpublished anywhere previously, and must not infringe on copyrights, trademarks, or other rights of any third parties.
- Using generative AI (artificial intelligence) in submitted logo designs is NOT acceptable as they may lead to copyright infringement issues.
- Submissions that contain any of the following will be disqualified:
- content that is offensive;
- content that violates or might violate laws;
- content promoting political or religious groups or positions;
- content that is culturally or socially insensitive;
- content that does not fit the purpose (promoting friendly relations between Japan and Maldives);
- content for commercial purposes.
If the selected logo design appears to not comply with any of the requirements above, selection will be withdrawn.
- The selected logo design will be subject to any edits, alterations or processing necessary for use. In the event the logo is found to be unsatisfactory after the selection process, or if agreement cannot be reached as to revisions to the logo, the selected design will be withdrawn from use.
- All rights relating to submitted designs and the copyright to the winning logo design will belong to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Those who are submitting designs agree to relinquish all rights and interests regarding the designs. In principle, submitted designs will not be altered other than to adjust size, convert to black-and-white, or to translate into Japanese or English.
- The selected logo design may be withdrawn from use if any information submitted with the design is later found to be false.
- The selected logo design in its final format will be distributed to those authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and will be used in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Maldives.
- Personal data other than name and affiliation of the applicants submitting logo designs will not be disclosed or offered to third parties except where it is permitted under laws or the designer’s consent was given.
- Acknowledgments of receiving the submission or rejection notices will not be sent. Inquiries regarding the selection process will not be attended.
- The designer of the selected design will not receive any prize, award, prize money or any other form of compensation. The name and affiliation of the designer will be announced along with the selected logo design with the designer’s consent.
