The 11th Japan-India Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation took place on June 5 in Delhi, as part of the "Japan India Science Technology and Innovation Exchange Year".

  1. The Joint Committee Meeting was co-chaired by Mr. KAWAMURA Hiroshi, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Dr. Praveenkumar Somasundaram, Head, International Cooperation Division, Department of Science & Technology. Representatives from both countries' relevant ministries and agencies participated both in person and online.
  2. During the meeting, both sides introduced the national science, technology and innovation policies, and reviewed the current status of ongoing cooperation in various areas such as biotechnology, medicine, space and astronomy, and meteorology and disaster prevention, and exchanged views in new areas such as quantum technology and AI. In addition, to co-create innovation in the fields of science and technology, they also agreed on the importance of fostering and promoting exchanges between students and young researchers in both countries in particular, and that there is great potential for cooperation between both countries in science, technology, and innovation, and that they will promote cooperation by leveraging each other’s strengths.
