On November 26, commencing at 4.20 p.m. (local time, on November 27, 0.20 a.m.) for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting Fiuggi, Italy to attend the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held a Japan-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with H.E. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Iwaya stated that Japan and India are “Special Strategic and Global Partners” that share fundamental values, and that he would like to further strengthen cooperation with Minister Jaishankar, who has close ties with Japan, not only bilaterally but also towards realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)”. In response, Minister Jaishankar stated that he looks forward to working with Minister Iwaya to further strengthen Japan-India relations.
  2. Minister Iwaya stated that he would like to further promote cooperation in the areas of security, economy and people-to-people exchange. In response, Minister Jaishankar stated that he would like to deepen cooperation in wide-ranging areas with Japan.
